What the site asks a child for

Puzzlekin offers an optional local profile so a child can keep track of which riddles they have already solved. Creating one is entirely voluntary — every riddle and every printable works without it. If a child does create one, the site asks for:

• A nickname. Typed into a free-text box, up to 24 characters. Children are asked for a nickname, not a real name — but the box accepts whatever is typed into it, so please tell your child not to enter their full name.
• An avatar. One picture chosen from a fixed set on screen. Nothing is uploaded.
• Which riddles have been solved. The site remembers which riddles that profile has marked as solved, and a day count for the daily-riddle streak. The streak stores day counts only — never a clock time, and never anything about which riddle was answered when.

That is the complete list. The site never asks for an email address, a phone number, a birthday, a photo, a location or anything else, and there is nowhere on the site to enter one.

Where it is kept

In your browser’s own local storage, on the device you are using, and nowhere else. It is not sent to us, and it is not sent to anyone else. We do not receive it, we cannot see it, and there is no server anywhere that holds a copy — the site has no code that could send it, which is a stronger promise than a policy of not looking.

Because it lives in the browser, a profile is visible to anyone who uses the same browser on the same device — which is deliberate, so brothers and sisters can each keep their own. It does not follow your child to another device, another browser, or another person’s computer.

Why we do not say “we collect nothing”

Under the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), asking a child to type something in counts as collecting it, even if it never reaches us. Puzzlekin does ask — for the nickname above — so “we collect nothing” would not be an honest description. What we can say precisely is this: nothing a child types here is ever transmitted off the device, and none of it is stored on our servers.

How to remove it

Two ways, both immediate and both entirely in your hands:

• The delete button on the profile itself. Open the profile panel in the site header and use the × beside a profile. That profile, its solved riddles and its streak are erased from this browser straight away.
• Clearing your browser data. Clearing site data for puzzlekin.com in your browser’s settings removes everything the site has stored, with no trace left behind.

You do not need to ask us to do either, and there is no request for us to process — we hold nothing to delete.

What the site does not do

No accounts and no passwords. No analytics, no tracking pixel and no advertising. No cookies. No third-party scripts of any kind — the fonts are served from this site rather than from a font network. Nothing about a visitor is sold, shared or sent anywhere, because nothing about a visitor ever leaves the browser in the first place.

Hosting

The site is served as static pages by Cloudflare Pages. Like every web host, Cloudflare processes the ordinary request information the internet needs to deliver a page — an IP address and a browser type — to serve the site and keep it secure. That is the whole of the site’s data footprint, and it is separate from anything on this page: a child’s nickname and progress are never part of a request.

For parents

You do not need to contact us to see, correct or delete what this site holds about your child, because we do not hold it — you do, in your own browser, and the delete button above removes it. If you would prefer your child not create a profile at all, they do not need one: every riddle, every answer and every printable page works exactly the same without one.

Who runs this site, and how to reach us

Puzzlekin is run by Sparkfield. A dedicated contact address for this site is not live yet, and we would rather say so here than publish one that bounces. This page will link it the same day it exists, together with the full postal and telephone details this kind of notice is meant to carry.

If this changes

Everything above describes the site exactly as it is built today. If Puzzlekin ever adds a feature that sends anything anywhere — an account, a saved-progress service, a share button, analytics — this page is updated before that feature goes live, not after.
